Divergent Language Solutions
Legal and corporate professionals worldwide rely on Divergent for accurate translation, interpreting, and multilingual review—delivered fast and flawlessly.
Divergent offers:
Premium Grade Translation
Premium Grade Translation (PGT) is performed by a subject matter expert native in the target language followed by word-for-word proofreading to ensure precise grammar, sentence structure, and continuity. This is a fully human process.
PGT is best suited for translations needed for court filings, those to be used in a public or official forum, when certification is needed, or any document of particularly high importance.
Certification
Divergent provides a range of certifications. This includes:
· standard in-house Divergent certifications signed by a company representative (not the translator) and notarized
· translator declaration which includes the translator’s signature and credentials
· translator affidavit signed by the translator who also lists their credentials. Their signature is notarized by a notary public
· court-sworn translations for specific jurisdictions in which this is a requirement (e.g., "beglaubigte Übersetzungen" in Germany)
Raw Machine Translation
We use a top-range neural MT service to produce raw MT output. The source documents are converted to editable Word documents (if not in an editable format file-type or Word already) before they are processed by the MT engine. No additional formatting or review is applied.
Machine Translation with Advanced Formatting
We fully format files prior to running them through a top-range neural MT service. The advanced formatting ensures the machine translations are ‘’like for like’’ so that they more closely match the original source documents.
Machine Translation with Post Editing Services ("MTPE")
For post-editing of a raw machine translation (MTPE), we use a top-range neural MT service to produce the raw MT output. We then assign a subject matter expert translator to carry out a post edit.
Transcription
We provide transcription of audio and video recordings. If required, a transcription can then be translated into another language.
Interpreting
Consecutive Interpretation
(Commonly used for depositions) With this service, the interpreter verbally translates what is being said by each speaker, at natural pauses in the conversation. This is the cheaper of the onsite services and no audio equipment is used here.
Simultaneous Interpretation
(Common for conferences/board meetings) This service involves the use of 2 interpreters for a single session. The linguists interpret while all parties are still conversing, without waiting for any pause. This is generally done with microphones/earpieces so that the listeners only hear the target language while the source language is being spoken. Consequently, there is the need to use audio equipment. Simultaneously interpreting for extended periods of time can be strenuous on the linguists so they work as a pair, working in intervals and switching off for breaks.
Freelance Interpreter Over-the-Phone (OPI)
This can be scheduled in advance using a specialized, professional freelance interpreter. These interpreters tend to be in high demand, so it is best to reserve them days, if not weeks, ahead of time. That said, understanding schedules can be fluid or last minute-changes are needed, we can absolutely reach out to higher-tier linguists regardless of the timing with the understanding that availability will be more limited.
Dial-In Over-the-Phone (OPI)
This is a lower-tier service than freelance interpreter OPI, but it is particularly useful on rush requests, those with lower budgets, and conversations discussing non-specialized content. These sessions are charged at a per minute rate. Although a freelance interpreter is higher quality and more expensive, the dial-in service will suffice for most pro-bono work.
